Q. How long has the Network been in existence?
A. Founded in the Pacific Northwest in the 1970s, The Exchange Network
was the world’s first 24-hour ATM shared network, as well as the first to
complete both a coast-to-coast ATM transaction and an international ATM
transaction. The ACCEL Network was founded in 1985 as the Northwest’s regional
POS Network. The ACCEL and Exchange Networks merged in 1991 to provide member
organizations with superior ATM and POS capabilities through a single network
membership.
