Secure Internet PIN Debit
A safe, convenient, and reliable online payment solution.
ACCEL/Exchange provides a quick, easy, and safe way to use your debit card to pay for online purchases. If your financial institution is an eligible ACCEL/Exchange member, you can:
- Use a card you already have and a PIN you know.
- Rest easy knowing your use of a PIN along with your debit card adds an extra layer of authentication to any transaction. Our highly encrypted and secure service ensures your PIN is never in the clear as it is being authorized and processed.
- Pay for your purchases at the merchant checkout conveniently and easily; there is no enrollment to use your debit card and no redirection to a third-party site for payment.
The ACCEL/Exchange secure Internet PIN debit payment solution is incorporated into the merchant checkout process, making paying with your debit card and PIN simple. When you initiate payment by entering your card number and information as you normally would, a validation check confirms that the card can be used with a PIN. Using your computer's mouse, you enter your PIN on a graphic, scrambling PIN pad. Your PIN is encrypted so that the online merchant never sees your actual PIN. Token values that represent actual PINs are created through a unique, dynamically-generated algorithm that protects your PIN because no one sees it, and it never passes through to the merchant.
Entering PIN information through your mouse means keystrokes cannot be captured because a keyboard is not used for PIN entry. The scrambling, patented PIN pad and use of your mouse prevent key logging of your PIN. Only coordinates of the entry of each number in your PIN are transmitted over the Internet, which means the actual numbers of your PIN cannot be captured during transmission. Once the transaction has been successfully processed, the PIN pad disappears and you receive a payment confirmation page from the merchant you can print and keep for your records. Internet PIN debit transactions are recorded on your monthly financial institution statement along with your other POS activity.
